2015 Vin Gris De Pinot Noir
The wine tastes and smells like fresh strawberries, and other fruits such as cherries and citrus. There is also suggestion of peach, banana and rose petals. The wine has excellent acidity, lasts long on the palate, and finishes fresh and bright.
This is our very first Rose of Pinot Noir! Vin Gris, or “grey wine,” is actually another name for a rosé, or pink wine. Traditionally, in its homeland of France, Vin Gris is made from crushed red grapes whose “clear” juice is drained off immediately from the grape skins and solids, before it picks up much color extract, leaving it with a pale pink tinge. The juice is then fermented as if it were a white wine. This makes a lovely, easy-drinking rosé. In addition, the grapes can still be used to make a red wine, and this process of draining off “free run” juice before fermentation can improve that wine by concentrating the remaining flavors and colors.
The wine is simply wonderful to enjoy all by itself, but it can also pair with a variety of spicy and flavorful cuisines: Thai, Chinese, or other spicy Asian Foods.
