2015 La Crescent
From the very beginning we have been working with the wonderful University of Minnesota grape La Crescent. 2015 is the third vintage we have made a 100% La Crescent Wine. The majority of the grapes were harvested from our own Estate Vineyard. We hand-picked the fruit in early September and whole cluster pressed the fruit immediately. The wine was fermented in stainless steel tanks at 50 degrees Fahrenheit to retain its freshness and aromatics. The 5% residual sugar helps balance out the high acidity La Crescent is known to have. The wine was blended and bottled at the winery in early January.
The wine tastes and smells like fresh pineapple, and other tropical fruits such as mango and guava. There are also suggestion of peach, banana and rose petals. The wine has excellent concentration, lasts long on the palate, and finishes fresh and bright.
The wine is simply wonderful to enjoy all by itself, but it can also pair with a variety of spicy and flavorful cuisines: Thai, Chinese, or other spicy Asian Foods.

2015
After much swishing and spitting, winners have been confirmed at the 2016 International Cold Climate Wine Competition (ICCWC), held today at the University of Minnesota’s Continuing Education Conference Center in St. Paul, MN. The trophy for the best Minnesota grape wine, known as the Minnesota Governor’s Cup, was won by Chankaska Creek Ranch & Winery of Kasota, MN, for their single varietal 2015 La Crescent. The Minnesota Governor’s Cup, a lovely large silver ice bucket, recognizes the “Best of Show” or top prize of all Minnesota gold-winning wines. This is the 8th year the traveling trophy has been awarded. -
