2014 Rosé Of Zinfandel
This is our first ever Rose made from Zinfandel grapes. But will not be our last! A cellar favorite of both me and Assistant Winemaker, Josie Boyle, we are excited to release this beautiful little wine. Only 103 cases were produced so get it while you still can!
The vineyard for the Rose of Zinfandel is a new one for us and it sits high in the Sierra Foothills at 2,000 foot elevation. The grapes were picked in late October and shipped immediately to us in Minnesota. The grapes were destemmed and crushed to tank and settled at 50 degrees. After 24 hours, we pulled off 300 gallons and allowed it to ferment separately. The technique we used is called Saigne, which is French for “to bleed”. After fermentation was complete, we barreled it down into used barrels.
On the nose, fresh strawberries along with white pepper, apricot, and melons invite you in. The mouth has vibrant acidity and more strawberries, raspberries, and lemon zest. The wine is bone dry and can be enjoyed by itself or with any traditional summer grilled cuisine.
