RETIRED

2011 Pinot Noir

This 2011 inaugural Chankaska Wines Pinot Noir is 100% Pinot Noir, from a small and young vineyard in the coveted “Carneros” region of Southern Sonoma County in California. The fruit was handpicked and  was hand sorted, then destemmed directly into small open-top fermenters and punched down by hand daily throughout a long and cool fermentation.  The finished wine was then pressed directly to barrel. The wine was aged in a blend of new and older French and Minnesota-grown oak cooperage.

Though from young vines, the wine exhibits a deep garnet color. Predominant in the nose are the scents of cherry and bright ripe apple pie, along with hints of sweet pipe tobacco, cedar, woodsmoke and thyme. In the mouth,  the wine is rich, bold, juicy and very pure. Like the iron fist in a velvet glove, our 2011 Pinot Noir will seduce you quietly while delivering a knock-out punch of pure pinot passion.
