2013 Reserve Marquette
Dark fruit core with a high concentration of ripe blackberries. Secondary notes of black truffles on the entry fold nicely into dark plum, black currant and fig.
The 2013 Marquette Reserve is without a doubt the finest red wine yet produced at Chankaska, a brilliant follow-up to the 2012 Reserve. It was created from the very best lots of fruit available in Minnesota including our own Estate Vineyard fruit. The wine is blended with a small percentage of Cabernet Sauvignon, and was aged for eight months in New Minnesota Oak barrels and neutral French oak.
This wine has a dark fruit core with a high concentration of ripe blackberries. Notes of black truffles on the entry fold nicely into dark plum, black currant and fig. Cassis, anise and black tea leaves help carry this massive wine to the finish. The 2013 Marquette Reserve will age gracefully over the next five to seven years.
