2015 Estate Marquette
The 2015 Estate Marquette marks our second 100% Marquette made entirely from grapes off of our Chankaska Estate. We have 2 blocks of Marquette here at Chankaska totaling 1.5 acres. In 2015 we picked less than 3 tons, so this wine is very scarce. Only 140 cases were made.
The grapes were picked on September 22nd at the height of ripeness and in the early morning hours. We chose to ferment it separately from the first day and after almost four weeks of fermentation, it was gently pressed off. After 16 months in barrel, we bottled the Estate Marquette in January of 2017. What we have might be the finest example of Marquette in the Midwest.
The nose is enticing with earthy berry and sweet tobacco. On the entry, fresh acidity with a savory dark chocolate finish. Drink this wine with roasted wild game or duck. Enjoy over the next five to seven years.
