2011 Creekside Red
The 2011 Creekside Red, somewhat like it’s “sister” wine Creekside White, is a blend of various grapes from various states or regions. It is a blend based on the idea of an Italian “super Tuscan” method of blending the Italian red grape Sangiovese with various other varietals, in this case Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Petite Sirah from California along with Frontenac and Saint Croix grown right here in Minnesota.
The wine is very easy to drink with just the right medium body, smoothness and intense fruit; it is downright “juicy”. Cherry and plum notes are accented with a great variety of spices; licorice, mint, and cinnamon, just to name a few, there is even a touch of menthol or camphor, along with sweet toasty new oak barrel notes which give a sweet caramel and wood-smoke accent to the vibrant finish.
The wine is ideal as a slightly-chilled warm weather sipper or works great with hearty Italian flavors; Spaghetti, lasagna, or pizza.
