2013 Creekside Red
Aromas of black cherries with secondary notes of leather, tobacco, toasty oak and clove. This wine is fruity, spicy, rich and bold.
Now in its third year of release, this iteration of our popular Creekside Red is fruity, spicy, rich and bold. On the nose, blackberries and black cherries dominate the fruit spectrum, while leather, tobacco, toasty oak and cloves round out the bouquet. As the wine opens up in the glass, there is a distinct milk chocolate note that is characteristic of the Marquette that makes up almost half of the blend. On the palate, soft tannins, a solid mid-palate, and a long finish help to make this a very drinkable wine.
The blend includes Sangiovese, the predominant grape found in Chianti, as well as its cousin, Zinfandel. A sort of Italian-American blend, it will pair equally well with a hearty ragu, a grilled steak, or a wood-fired pizza.
