2012 Merlot
The Merlot for this wine was sourced from Washington State’s Yakima Valley. In 2012 we got exceptional hang time and picked the fruit in the last moments of October. The wine fermented for a period of nearly a month before being pressed off into French oak barrels. After 20 months in barrel, the wine was bottled in August of 2014.
The wine exhibits classic Merlot aromas of bright cherry, blackberry and raspberry, with hints of olives, anise and black pepper. In the mouth, the wine is medium bodied with rich, firm tannins. Aged in 20% new French oak barrels, the wine will continue to soften and gain complexity in the bottle with expected peak drinking window between 2016 to 2020.
